We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Product Owner I.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Product Owner reports up through the Program Engineering Management team and shepherds the overall vision for software products. This position includes translating and communicating the product vision to Agile development teams utilizing the Scrum framework. Additionally, this position will be assigned other projects or tasks in alignment with the level and scope of the position such as approving timesheets and reviewing performance evaluation of the employees.

Translates and communicates the product vision to Agile development teams utilizing the Scrum framework. Collaborates with stakeholders to define product requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria and to produce a clearly defined backlog. Champions solutions and prioritizes requirements to deliver best value to the customer and the business. Acts as a bridge between stakeholders and development teams to remove roadblocks, resolve conflicts, and decide actions. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

As a Product Owner I, responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:



  • Work together with teams of software professionals within an Agile development environment to accomplish team milestones while collaborating to achieve project strategic goals; With everyone working in concert to create the best product possible.
  • Be comfortable being yourself and expressing your personality and personal qualities to influence our tight-knit software development teams.
  • Participate in brainstorming, consensus building and other team activities to identify actions that improve our products and processes.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to define product requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria and to produce a clearly defined backlog.
  • Communicates priorities and objectives to Scrum teams.
  • Champions solutions and prioritizes requirements to deliver best value to the customer and the business.
  • Acts as a bridge between stakeholders and development teams to remove roadblocks, resolve conflicts, and decide actions.
  • Responsible for project oversight.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  • Tracks progress of development initiatives and communicates status to stakeholders.
  • Adheres to strict CMMI quality procedures to ensure first time quality in delivered products.
  • Domestic and International travel to Military Installations in support of Program activities may be required.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field required.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the software development industry or simulation experience
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment
  • Experience reviewing and refining requirements
  • Experience with software programming languages such as Java, C, C++
  • Experience using a source code repository such as BitBucket, Mercurial, GIT, or Subversion
  • Experience using a defect management system such as Bugzilla, JIRA
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Holds a current minimum DOD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required


Preferred Qualifications



  • Prefer experience with constructive Modeling & Simulation software


  • Prefer experience with software development with hands on experience
  • Prefer experience using Relational Database Management Systems such as Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, and/or Oracle
  • Prefer experience with web technologies and frameworks
  • Prefer experience as Scrum Lead/Scrum Master and/or Product Owner
