Support the Director, University Budget, and the Executive Director Finance and Budget, in the daily operation of the University Budget Office and Finance and Budget functions. Responsible for essential functions within the University Budget Office which may include position management and salary savings tracking; coordinate various budget projects throughout the year; ongoing communication and consulting on financial issues with faculty and staff at all levels within the University; training to assist cost center managers and specialists understand fiscal responsibility and use of information systems; regular and ad hoc report generation and analysis; budget preparation and analysis; regular review and processing of budget requests; and other budget-related activities as assigned.

  • Support the Director, University Budget, and the Executive Director Finance and Budget, in the daily operation of the University Budget Office and Finance and Budget functions.   • Generating reports, analyzing data, and providing information and/or recommendations to the University Budget Director and University leadership for process improvements and Workday enhancements.
  • Provide live Teams training to end users and update training materials as needed including posting to ERNIE. Work with team leadership to implement improvements for training methods and content.
  • Various annual budget projects including, but not limited to, primary responsibility for overall Sponsored Projects, Research Incentive Account and Donor Sponsored Program year-end rollover effort; coordinate annual revenue and expense budget; analyze groups of accounts for future year budget estimate. Assist with annual budget cycle tasks including, but not limited to, review and entry/upload during revenue and expense processes; other tasks as required.
  • Review and process budget amendments and requests for accuracy of approval, intent, execution, and funding. Includes judgment and decision making based on the impact of transactions for University financial reporting, compliance, and budgets. Knowledge and understanding of required journal entries and ability to submit request to Accounting.
  • Work with budget department team members on Inbox requests daily to provide guidance to end users on requests and tasks. Must have a comprehensive understanding of all University accounts, including restrictions, limitations, and allowable accounting. Judgment in accordance with budgetary guidelines and practices.
  • Maintain department ERNIE web site to include: ensuring the latest files and forms are posted; site is easily navigated; source documents are filed appropriately, and announcements are current. Work collaboratively with IT to ensure Workday dashboard has updated links and announcements posted. Continually document and improve all processes within the department.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of related experience in Accounting/Finance
  • Experience in budget management, higher education preferred
  • Superior attention to detail

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
