Job Summary
Provide fabrication or characterization process and/or equipment engineering services within an academic or research unit.This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty, staff, students, researchers, vendors and contractors. This position typically will advise and counsel: faculty, staff, students, researchers, vendors and contractors. This position will supervise: NA.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 - Perform design and installation of laboratory equipment and processes.
Job Duty 2 - Conduct analyses of laboratory equipment and process performance.
Job Duty 3 - Review and provide input to engineering plans and specifications for laboratory equipment or processes.
Job Duty 4 - Perform troubleshooting associated with laboratory equipment or processes; may involve calibration and repair work.
Job Duty 5 - Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams and related documentation associated with laboratory equipment or processes.
Job Duty 6 - Develop project budgets, make purchases and monitor expenses.
Job Duty 7 - Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues.
Job Duty 8 - Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience Three to four years of job related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated experience with chemical handling and cleanroom equipment safety protocols. Strong customer service orientation, committed to supporting users and enhancing facility operations.
Preferred Experience Proven experience with microfabrication CVD, ALD, PECVD, and Lithography equipment maintenance, modification, troubleshooting, and repair.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES Ability to perform and oversee process qualification to ensure equipment operates within specified parameters. Ability to conduct regular preventive maintenance to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
KNOWLEDGE Strong understanding of microfabrication equipment operation and maintenance principles. Skilled in providing hands-on microfabrication and characterization equipment training.
SKILLS This job requires professional level knowledge and skills in the application of fabrication processes and equipment engineering principles, processes and practices. Skills in application of regulations, codes and safety practices associated with research laboratory conditions, as is the use of office and engineering/technical related computer applications, databases and systems.
