ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Manufacturing Supervisor will manage the production activities and employees across 2 shifts on straight nights schedule. Reporting to the Production Manager of a plant, this position works closely with other plant support personnel to achieve plant KPI's and enforce safety and quality standards. While providing leadership visibility on the plant floor, supervisors will be responsible for building rapport with team members, evaluating and mentoring their teams to increase productivity and inspire positive morale.

SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Supervisors work 5 days/week, consistently on Tues-Thurs, including a rotation for the other 2 working days and days off between Fridays - Mondays

  • 11:00pm - 7:00am

  • 6:00pm - 2:00am

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises shift team members, ensuring productivity, safety, and product quality.

  • Maintains the weekly production schedules and mediates any staffing or mechanical issues.

  • Builds the team through training, development, and positive reinforcements.

  • Ensures business production targets are achieved.

  • Manage labor staffing and planning for a shift by driving site priorities through staffing for flow to work.

  • Delegates work assignments and drives shift/plant communication.

  • Completes performance and probationary reviews for team members within area of responsibility.

  • Maintains employee records, compliance and performance documentation, and approves timecards.

  • Follows existing protocols and enforces internal policies.

  • Assists in the resolution of employee conflict and discipline issues as they occur while striving for consistency and fairness.

  • Conducts on-shift safety, quality, and production incident investigations.

  • Partner with support functions and key personnel to keep them apprised of shift-related activity.

  • Participate in task forces and core groups that resolve Bay City shift-related issues.

  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with SCJ policies, procedures, and in line with SCJ core values.

  • Responsible for performance management write-ups and reviews for shift employees.

  • Conduct investigations and administer positive disciplines as needed.

  • Interview and support hiring of plant production employees.

  • Key contact for all Bay City emergency issues as they arise on shift.

  • Conduct site wide GEMBA walks when working weekend rotation.

  • Promote and practice all elements of Success Drivers.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:

  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment or University Degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience or an advanced degree with 1+ years relevant work experience.

  • 1+ years in a leadership role.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Military experience considered in lieu of education requirement.

  • Bay City Manufacturing experience and knowledge of all operational areas.

  • Experience leading high performance work teams.

  • Knowledge of plant preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of safety awareness.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Full time.

  • Ability to work a variable schedule that includes weekend coverage.

  • Working conditions may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and steel toed work boots.

  • Exposure to noise and subject to regular bending, twisting, and reaching.

  • This position is not eligible for remote work.
