JOB MISSION:

The New Balance eCommcerce Assistant Planner is responsible for supporting the Planning Manager in building the Newbalance.com Apparel financial plans and regular analysis of the business. The Assistant Planner will provide reporting, drive insights and perform adhoc analysis for the Planning and Merchant teams to drive positive impact to the business. This role will support Pre-Season and In Season planning through pulling reports and executing updates. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate would possess an innate curiosity, the desire to learn new ideas/concepts regularly, want to learn analytics and how to use them to influence business decisions, have an ability to work independently as well as cross functionally with many teams and perform in a digital environment with strict attention to detail. This role reports into the Planning Manager and is part of the North American eCommerce team.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze and recap apparel sales, margin and inventory performance vs. budget, forecast, and last year to identify risks and opportunities; recap key insights and partner with cross-functional team to on actions to drive the business and impact future strategic decisions

  • Support the planning manager in creating preseason plans and in-season forecasts for sales, margin and inventory, at an annual, monthly, and weekly level by category that support brand and product strategies utilizing historical data, product plans, site activity and market trends

  • Assist in the execution of plan and forecast updates in necessary tools

  • Establish, review and update style-level plans based on current forecast, historic trend and test information for key items or attributes

  • Efficiently manage inventory levels needed to support sales with consideration for sell-through percent, WOS, and planned product life span. Fully understand the life cycle of product (Core, Seasonal, Energy) and ensure the right stock levels by product designation. Communicate regularly with the region around inventory needs or overstocks and provide information around trend and future selling activities

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with members of cross functional team (Buying, Merchandising, Site Experience & Operations, Marketing, Sales Operations)

  • Understand site and consumer analytics and utilize within analysis and planning processes

  • Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices and develop systems knowledge

  • Partner with cross-functional team on key initiatives and develop adhoc reporting where needed including reporting on sales activities, category, model, sizing etc. Provide insight and recommendations and be prepared to communicate findings effectively

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in buying, planning & inventory, site analytics, consulting or finance

  • Strong Financial, Analytical and Retail Math Acumen and desire to improve to Expert level

  • Proficient PC skills, including MS Office Suite and advanced Excel skills

  • Interest in Adobe or Google Analytics

  • Aptitude to analyze discrete data to identify trends, issues and opportunities

  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Proactive, "can-do" attitude is a must

Flexible Work Schedule

New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
