Open Rank- Assistant Dean of Professional Graduate Programs of Nursing

The University of New Mexico (UNM), College of Nursing (CON) invites applications to serve as the Assistant Dean of Professional Graduate Programs. The Assistant Dean's primary responsibility is providing visionary leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating professional graduate academic programs, which anticipate nursing workforce needs in a dynamic health care environment. Serve as a key member of the College's Administrative leadership team. This includes providing strategic leadership to develop a future vision of the College to enhance current and emerging programs and the stewardship of resources, personnel, and collaboration within the CON, UNM, and across the state.

Authority and responsibility for administration of the professional graduate programs to include but not limited to budget management, workload assignments, management and supervision of faculty and staff, development and enforcement of policies, meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements, teaching, and development and implementation of curriculum.

This is a leadership position, which includes active leadership in academic affairs; commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, inter-professional and community engagement. This position provides a vital role in the development of research, scholarship, and clinical programs at the graduate levels, as well as facilitate a culture of effective mentorship.

Responsibilities include:

• Accountable for developing and executing a continuous quality improvement plan for graduate programs and processes including graduate academic program evaluations
• Mentor faculty in teaching, service, and scholarly activities in collaboration with the leadership team
• Provide ongoing feedback and create learning opportunities for faculty development.
• Conduct annual evaluations of graduate faculty in concert with the graduate program directors. In addition, will complete annual evaluations for the graduate program directors
• Oversee graduate program directors for the delivery and evaluation of graduate academic programs including assurance of accreditation standards, and preparation of administrative reports related to graduate clinical academic programs
• Develop and maintain partnerships on behalf of the CON with external constituents for clinical sites
• Supervision and oversight of the quality and effectiveness of individual adjunct faculty's teaching
• Fiduciary oversight of program budgets in concert with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
• Facilitate an environment that supports student, staff, and faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Maintain open interactions and availability to students
• Lead and implement workforce development initiatives by fostering strategic collaborations across the university and health systems.
• Aims to improve health care development in rural and under-resourced New Mexico communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A PhD, DNP or related clinical doctorate
• Must be eligible for nursing licensure in New Mexico
• Demonstrated leadership in the mentorship, development, and advocacy of faculty, students and staff

Preferred Qualifications:

• Takes an active role in mentorship and participates in the recruitment and retention of faculty, staff and students
• Engagement in an active program of scholarship, and service with a consistent record of funding support appropriate for faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (clinician educator track or tenure track)
• Three to five years teaching experience
• Demonstrated strong track record as a consensus builder and collaborator to meet the organization mission and vision
• Experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
