V2X is growing! V2X is looking for a Material Packer 1 to join our team!

Duties of the Position:



  • The Material Packer I will perform tasks that are in alignment with the Core Logistics Function of packing and shipping various types of unclassified material for movement or shipment by common carriers.
  • Preserving, wrapping or cushioning, unit packing, blocking, bracing, marking and opening/unpacking unclassified product.
  • Cleans and/or performs repairs on reusable shipping containers.
  • Material Packers become proficient in material management processes, procedures, and industry best practices applicable to the protection and preservation of material from deterioration and/or physical damage.
  • Utilize motorized material handling equipment such as Powered Industrial Vehicles (fork-truck, electric scooter, etc.), electric or manual pallet jack, carts, semi-lives with T-Handle and other similar material handling equipment.
  • Serve as spotters for material packers and material handlers.
  • Uses calculators, tape measure and/or mathematic formulas to determine the correct size of packaging materials needed to fabricate a required pack and also to determine weight, dimensions and cubic feet of pack.
  • Utilizes various electrical or mechanical equipment to perform Core Logistics tasking. Equipment can include handheld, rotary or impulse sealers; saws, drills, box making machines, foam-in-place machines, label printers, RF scanners, hoists, tape machines, scales, stencil machines, shrink wrap machines, and other similar equipment.
  • Fabricates cushioning, bags, barriers, cartons and wood crates for the storage, hand-carry and/or shipment of unclassified materials, property or misc. items.
  • Performs and records testing of packaging unclassified materials as required per applicable all State, Federal, and DOD, government or V2X regulations or standards.
  • Opens/closes unclassified containers, cartons, wood crates, bundles, or other similar items using hand tools such as steel cutters, crow bars, claw hammer, drills, knives, tapes, nails, glues, screws, and/or banding materials, or other similar hand tools.
  • Ensures all required equipment is in proper working condition and preventative maintenance has been performed before and after use.
  • Loads unclassified material/property on trucks, vans, trailers or other similar vehicles. Installs strapping, blocking, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Loads and unloads unclassified material onto or off of pallets, trays, racks, carts, shelves or other similar staging and movement equipment.
  • The method of movement can be manual physical movement, fork-truck, electric or manual pallet jack, lift-carts and overhead hoists or cranes.
  • Identifies and reports any obvious damage to unclassified materials and property in the work area.
  • Identifies and validates unclassified material and property identification and quantities against documentation and/or systems information (this task will be done at the onset of a task as well as throughout each step of the functional task).
  • Records and/or updates various internal and external logs, forms, and documentation. May include performing systems movements, transactions and updates utilizing enterprise system tools that become available to the business.
  • Attaches identifying tags, markings, and labeling to unclassified material, property, handling, staging, storage and shipment containers or receptacles.
  • Follows verbal instructions and/or reads documentation accompanying unclassified materials or property in order to determine what tasking is required to process, pack, or move the items.
  • Performs safety walks and general cleanup of LAM areas to include removing trip hazards, broken damaged containers, or damaged pallets, breaking down and disposing of empty boxes, and identifying and reporting potential hazards.
  • May perform as a member or leader of a functional and/or cross-functional team.
  • The above lists are not inclusive and other tasking may be assigned and tools provided as required to fulfill work requirements.


Required:



  • Work experience in Logistics functions of Packing, and/or Shipping and forklift operations.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift weight in accordance with current OSHA, Bureau of Labor Standards, and V2X recommendations and guidelines.


Required Education:



  • High school Diploma or GED
