Henry Ford Health and Ascension SE Michigan came together to form a joint venture effective October 1, 2024. Henry Ford Providence Hospital, previously known as Ascension Providence Hospital, is looking for a 0.15 FTE, 6 hours per week Associate Program Director - Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. The 6 hours per week will consist of 6 hours of administrative time per week. The position reports to the DME/DIO and Program Director - Gastroenterology Fellowship Program. The program is fully accredited by the ACGME. There are 11 fellows in the fellowship program. The Associate Program Director is expected to provide administrative support to the program, including all activities related to recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, evaluation and advancement of residents as requested by the Program Director. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Ensure and monitor participation of residents in Quality Improvement projects and assess completion before graduation. 2. Work collaboratively with the Program Coordinator and PD to monitor the performance of the program regularly. 3. Develop residency assignments and schedules to meet the educational goals of the program 4. Plan, coordinate, and implement curriculum and evaluation methodology for the general competencies in alignment with ACGME requirements. 5. Encourage/promote research/scholarly activity amongst residents and faculty. 6. Assist Program Director in the election of residents of the highest caliber for appointment to the program in accordance with institutional and departmental policies and procedures. 7. Assist Program Director in maintaining an evaluation program for each resident with regular feedback, at least semi-annually, regarding individual progress. 8. Communicate and document each evaluation to the resident in a timely manner. All evaluations and counseling sessions are to be documented with resident and faculty member signatures. 9. Monitor resident stress, including mental or emotional conditions or drug or alcohol related dysfunction. 10. Review and consult with the Program Director regarding any resident disciplinary steps by following the appropriate GME policy. 11. Ensures that residents promote the overall goals and mission of Medical Education, as well as comply with all hospital and departmental policies/procedures. 12. Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with institutional GME policies and procedures. 13. Submit required documentation (ie ACGME ADS) as requested by GME Administration. 14. Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with all accreditation requirements including institutional requirements, common program requirements, and specific program requirements. 15. Monitor and document resident duty hours to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies. 16. Participate in the program meetings, such as PEC or CCC, and/or other committees as requested. 17. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with other hospital departments, the community, and medical schools. 18. Work collaboratively with the Program Director and Administration to ensure effective and efficient accomplishment of departmental goals and associated tasks. 19. Develop and implement a personal development program to ensure professional growth. 20. Participate in appropriate professional organizations to enhance the development of the residency program. Qualifications: * Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program. * Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship program. * BC in specialty. * 1-2 years of previous experience in a faculty role preferred. * Interest in teaching.
