Salary range: Total Negotiated Salary (TNS) calculation depending on specialty can range from $364,895 - $770,253 Health Sciences Compensation Plan. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

Position description

The Department of Surgery in the School of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, anticipates openings for physicians in its various divisions. These openings will be at the level of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor or above (non-tenure), depending upon the candidate's qualifications, and will be in the In-Residence Professor series.

Surgical Divisions include the following: Cardiac Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Emergency General Surgery (EGS), Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Transplantation Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Vascular Surgery

Criteria for In-Residence Professor Series:

Faculty in the In-Residence Professor series are appointed based on contributions in teaching and mentoring, research, University and public service, professional competence, and/or creative activities.

Assistant Professors: Appointments are year-to-year with renewal based on performance and departmental needs, until promotion to the Associate level.

Associate and Full Professors: Appointments generally do not have a fixed end date; however, a department may set a term for budgetary reasons, programmatic changes, or workload considerations.

Academic rank and salary will align with training, qualifications, and experience.


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent, with board certification or eligibility in specialty are required in the relevant specialty.

Eligible to obtain a California DEA license and a California Medical License.
