Part-Time Speech and Language Pathologist

Position Summary: The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the school staff and parents/guardians.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions.
  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services.
  • Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process.
  • Provide direct service, therapy, and consultation with parents/guardians, teachers, staff and LEAs.
  • Assess and keep accurate records of student progress and assist in future placements and referrals.
  • Prepare and submit IEP goals and progress reports for student monitoring throughout the school year.
  • Attend IEP meetings and team meetings as needed.
  • Consult with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available.
  • Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.
  • Plan and facilitate social/pragmatic group sessions for classrooms.
  • Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
  • Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
  • Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management.
  • Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports to the Special Education Director and other administrators.
  • Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
  • Provide training to school staff as needed to educate staff on working with specific students or needs.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director
  • Follow all school policies and procedures as it pertains to the position's roles/responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology with RIDE Certification as a Speech/Language Pathologist. - Required
  • Valid driver's license and registered/inspected vehicle - Required.

This is part-time position at 15-20 hours per week.

Salary Range: $40 - $50 / Hour
