[1] Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified talent to consider for an Emergency Response and Safety Specialist opportunity at our Toledo, OR containerboard mill. This position reports to the Safety Leader. This position focuses on managing and developing the emergency response program, supporting the fire protection systems across the mill, supporting site security, and supporting the operations and maintenance teams through the effective integration of health and safety management systems. Our Team

Georgia Pacific Toledo is one of five containerboard manufacturing sites within our Packing & Cellulose division. They are also a recycling leader in the Northwest United Sates. The team is currently comprised of 480+ dedicated employees. The Toledo Mill is located within a 10-minute drive to the Pacific Ocean and offers many local outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and boating.

What You Will Do
* Lead Emergency Preparedness Initiatives: Oversee emergency response programs, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
* Coordinate Comprehensive Training Programs: Manage and track training for the Mill Emergency Response Team encompassing HAZMAT, firefighting, medical emergencies, and more.
* Champion Safety and Compliance: Serve as the Compliance System Owner for key safety standards including Emergency Preparedness, Confined Space, and the Save My Life (SML) permitting process.
* Innovate Safety Processes: Lead the efficient application of the SML permitting process using advanced technology to enhance safety standards.
* Conduct Safety Audits: Perform audits and manage resources to reduce hazard risks and improve safety protocols.
* Enhance Emergency Response Capabilities: Support Incident Command and collaborate on chemical process safety programs, ensuring readiness during emergencies.
* Drive Safety Program Leadership: Act as the primary safety coordinator for Walking & Working Surfaces programs, while also serving as a secondary coordinator for various other safety initiatives.
* Manage Contractor Safety: Oversee contractor training and evaluation, ensuring alignment with safety standards and ISNetworld program requirements.
* Promote Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of and ensure adherence to GP Compliance Standards, OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations.
* Facilitate Incident Investigations: Utilize Human and Organizational Performance concepts to lead incident investigations and enhance safety outcomes.
* Deliver Impactful Safety Training: Develop and deliver training sessions to foster a culture of safety excellence.
* Provide On-call Safety Support: Serve as a vital safety resource during outages and on a rotating on-call basis to maintain a secure work environment.
* Support Vision of Zero Significant Events: Collaborate with the team to achieve the mill's goal of zero significant safety incidents.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Three (3) or more years of experience supporting Emergency Response efforts
* Experience working within multi-discipline emergency response teams (HAZMAT, Fire Brigade, Emergency Medical, Confined Space-High Angle Rescue, and Incident Command)
* Experience in heavy manufacturing and/or chemical processes in a pulp and paper facility
* Must participate in on-call rotation 8 times a year (One will be on a holiday)

What Will Put You Ahead
* Bachelor of Science Degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or Fire Science Technology
* Knowledge of NFPA requirements for Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment
* Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Certification
* Certified Trainer for ERT Program elements
* Experience in Facility Security Management
* Active Incident Commander Certification
