SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Senior Safety & Security Analyst is a regionally embedded analyst who is responsible for performing complex research and analysis to support data-driven and intelligence-led decision-making and resource allocation for mitigating safety and security risks to customers and employees. The analyst will collaborate with a team of analysts throughout the nation, supporting the safety and security departments of the organization to ensure a constant flow of timely, accurate, and relevant information to stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Gather, interpret, analyze, and summarize data from multiple sources in support of disseminating meaningful safety and security data to business partners throughout the organization.
  • Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in incidents. Conduct root cause analysis to assist personnel with formulating mitigation strategies. Measure the effectiveness of strategies implemented.
  • Conduct extensive research and prepare investigative summaries in support of criminal investigations of incidents.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports, presentations, maps, or charts based on research, collection, processing, and analysis of data and information.
  • Support counterterrorism efforts by developing and maintaining intelligence products. Analyze information from various sources to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and disseminate information to relevant personnel and agencies.
  • Conduct virtual and in-person briefings or presentations to communicate analytical findings to various audiences.
  • Represent the safety and security analytics team at meetings, conferences, or networking events to establish or enhance rapport and relationships with federal, state, and local partners.
  • Collaborate and coordinate regularly with internal and external partners, stakeholders, and representatives to share information or synchronize activities. Responsible for the flow of information to and from the area of assigned responsibility and headquarters operations.
  • Other duties as assigned



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, data analytics, criminology, sociology, research, intelligence, or other related field and three (3) years of relevant experience
  • In lieu of a degree, seven (7) years of relevant work experiencemust be clearly articulated.
  • Successful completion of a personal police background investigation.
  • Secret Level security clearance, or ability to obtain one.



MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to apply these efficiently to solve problems
  • Pattern recognition and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience creating and disseminating informational bulletins for situational awareness and information sharing
  • Knowledge of and experience with business intelligence tools such as PowerBI, SAP Business Objects, Tableau, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas/functions
  • Experience with GIS/Mapping software such as ArcGIS Desktop or ArcPro to conduct spatial analysis
  • Ability to explain analytical findings in clear terms that can be understood by non-technical audiences
  • Strong team-working and collaboration skills
  • Ability to plan well and prioritize work
  • Good decision-making skills and maintains calmness under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and comprehension skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Five (5 ) plus years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree OR equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Experience with Python, SQL, or similar a plus.
  • Experience working in transportation or intelligence community a plus.
  • Experience with and access to eJustice, and other law enforcement databases isa plus



WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • High-pressure environment requiring quick thinking, meeting critical deadlines, and changing priorities and scenarios.
  • Frequently operates a computer, reads written material and a computer screen, and listens to and speaks to other employees in person or on a telephone in order to manage and conduct business.



COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:



  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.



PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The salary/hourly range is$78,600 -$101,844.Pay is based on several factors includingbut not limited to education, work experience, certifications,internal equity,etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider ageo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offeradditional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees,including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual andcompany performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/orlong-term incentive plan compensation.
