Overview
The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is committed to maintaining and improving Vermont's transportation infrastructure. Our newly established Structural Services Unit within the Construction Section provides specialized support on structural materials, construction practices, and continuous process improvement in bridge construction.We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of engineering tasks related to bridge construction and structural materials while collaborating closely with experts in the field. As a Civil Engineer in the Structural Services Unit, you will have the opportunity to contribute to bridge construction engineering and structural material science. You will work directly with the Agency's Construction Structures Engineer and Concrete Materials Specialist, supporting the initiatives of the unit. This role offers valuable hands-on experience at the intersection of design, construction, and material science, while fostering continuous professional growth. Duties are generally performed in both office and field settings for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards, and construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related technical field. Preferred Qualifications
Licensure as an Engineer Intern (EIT) or the ability to obtain Special Requirements
