Overview

Selective is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineering Manager who will lead the development and maintenance of effective testing processes, procedures, innovation, automation tooling and performance testing. Provides leadership to all QE functions for supported line of business. Manages resources using a variable offsite/onsite staffing model including employees and manage work efforts to defined budgets.


Responsibilities

  • Accountable for managing the effective and timely completion of test activities performed on multiple projects.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current industry trends for test automation and performance testing process, procedures and best practices. Ability to think outside the box and adjust to IT and business needs collaboratively in order to meet project objectives.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing automation and performance strategy that supports the DevOps roadmap.
  • Proactively works with PMO, Quality Assurance AVP and Project Managers to present an aggregate view of testing utilization. Provide estimates (ROMs) and forecast to align project and resource needs.
  • Establish and maintain Quality metrics that drive efficiencies within the organization.
  • Routinely provide demonstrations of automation initiatives and performance test results to all stakeholders.
  • Develop and support automation framework and dashboard to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Trains, supervises, and assigns projects to QA Team. Monitors and evaluates performance and productivity of staff and /or offshore team to maintain optimum performance of job duties. Works closely with Project Managers and others to obtain feedback on QA Team. Holds others accountable on deliverables that impact testing duties and responsibilities, including both on and off-shore variably staffed QA team(s).
  • Provide QA input into root cause analysis and conduct lessons learned sessions with IT/BSU/QA following each release.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure adherence to the tooling, standards and organizational processes are followed.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Requirements

  • Ability to plan and control projects.
  • Solid understanding of the major technology trends impacting the business.
  • Solid understanding of standard software testing methods, tools and approach.
  • Strong knowledge of P&C Insurance products and practices, including the impact of industry trends/ regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of SDLC, Agile, DevOps, technical solutions and performance testing best practices.
  • Effective communication to convey testing results and metrics to Business, IT leadership and delivery teams.
  • Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration.
  • College Degree preferred in Computer Science and Engineering.
  • 8+ years of hands on software testing or Development and Test management experience, including experience in advanced test automation strategies.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, AWS/Azure, RPA, GIT, Neoload, JMeter, Web Services
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, client focused, dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to scale testing approaches to meet demand without compromising quality.
  • Experience managing external onsite/offshore service providers.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills, including ability to influence and collaborate with all stakeholders.

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Pay Range

USD $116,000.00 - USD $167,000.00 /Yr.
