Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Embedded Hardware Cybersecurity Scientist/Engineering Lead under the TMAS2 Contract supporting the 96 Cyberspace Test Group (96 CTG) at Eglin AFB, FL. This role will support the Threat Development Laboratory within the Cyber Test and Evaluation Range at Eglin, AFB. The Embedded Hardware Cybersecurity Scientist/Engineering Lead will be responsible for providing overarching technical direction within the Threat Development Laboratory.

JOB DETAILS

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL

JOB STATUS: Full Time

TRAVEL: 25% CONUS / OCONUS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • BSEE/BSCE and 15 years of relevant experience or MSEE/MSCE and 10 years of relevant experience or PhD and 5 years of relevant experience
  • An active Secret security clearance is required for consideration with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Must be able to obtain DOD 8140 (Formerly DoD 8570) IAT Level 3 certification within 1 year of hire, and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Expertise in hardware assurance, trust, and security including external, internal, and intrinsic aspects of microelectronics, printed circuit boards, and interconnects
  • Experience performing tactical hands-on cybersecurity assessments on hardware, including non-destructive, semi-invasive, and fully destructive attacks and countermeasures
  • Experience establishing and leading new operational initiatives and investments which result in new test capabilities supporting the convergence of cyber and hardware.
  • Experience implementing engineering and scientific concepts and applications regarding hardware, firmware, software, networks, and radio frequency to perform vulnerability discovery, exploit development, and penetration testing against embedded hardware
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, threats, tactics, and techniques regarding hardware, cybersecurity, anti-tamper, supply chains, etc.
  • Experienced in all areas of electronics and embedded systems research, development, test and evaluation, and security across the entire acquisition lifecycle from initial requirements to system disposal.
  • Experience collaborating and briefing internal and external stakeholders regarding project status, capabilities, gaps, findings, risks, successes, business models, and demand signals.
  • Experience managing technical programs including developing and reviewing documentation for cost, schedule, and performance deliverables, such as planning, programming, proposals, studies, selections, and managing resources and risks to ensure program success.
  • Working knowledge of regulations, standards, policies, instructions, and guidebooks regarding Acquisitions, Hardware, Anti-Tamper, Supply Chains, and Cybersecurity regarding electronics and embedded systems, to ensure compliance throughout all lifecycle phases.
  • Experience working in DOD research and testing laboratories such as systems integration lab (SIL), hardware in the loop (HIL), cybersecurity labs, etc.
  • Experience interfacing with multiple stakeholders to define project scope, maintain project status, develop schedules and budgets, and develop project documentation.
  • Must be capable of traveling to TDY locations as needed

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience with specific embedded devices such as ASIC, MCU, CPU, SOC, FPGA, etc.
  • Experience with embedded manufacturing process techniques such as FR4, Rigid, Flex, 3D-AM, etc.
  • Experience with manufacture of CMOS, FET, FINFET, 3DHI heterogenous integration, Hybrid PIC photonic integrated circuits, Quantum, AM additive manufacturing, ASIC RTL, FPGA BS, etc.
  • Experience performing techniques including SCA, FIA, AOI, NIR Inspection, EOFM, EOP, XRAY, XRF, ROT / PUF, FIB, SEM, UP, T / AT, HTH, 3PIP, C / AC, RE / A-RE, etc.
  • JFAC, AFWERX, SBIR, CTEC, CROWS, TRMC/CTEIP, etc.
  • Experience Identifying gaps, defining requirements, and writing proposals for funding through JFAC, AFWERX, SBIR, CROWS, TRMC/CTEIPStrong understanding of the DOD acquisition, weapons systems, developmental and operational test and evaluation processes, including DFARS, NIST, FIPS, DoDI, AFI, JFAC, AT-TIG, C-T&E

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide overall technical direction and oversight regarding the Threat Development Laboratory within the Cyber Test and Evaluation Complex
  • Become a subject matter expert with regard to board/chip level embedded hardware cyber T&E capabilities
  • Lead initiatives to fund and develop new board/chip level cyber T&E capabilities within the CTEC
  • Work with test managers to develop test plans and objectives which utilize capabilities within the Threat Development Laboratory
  • Support test execution within the Threat Development LaboratoryTravel on occasion in support of project planning, execution or reporting
