The role reports to Head of Operations Management in Nokia's Strategy and Technology Unit, with dotted line accountability to the Americas Head of Safety and Security Operations.

You as the Nokia Bell Labs EHS Manager have the overall responsibility for implementing Nokia EHS standards, compliance with governmental regulatory requirements, and work with site leadership and employees for a safe and healthful work environment.

Willing to travel up to 25 % of the time.

Your responsibilities include the following tasks/programs



  • Environmental
  • Stormwater Permitting and Monitoring
  • Wastewater Permitting and Discharge
  • Underground Storage Tank Compliance, Removal and Clean Closure
  • Air Permitting, Monitoring and Reporting
  • Hazardous Waste Registration, Storage, Recordkeeping, Reporting and Compliance
  • Chemical Storage, Handling, Tracking, and Emergency Planning
  • ISO14001 Management System and Auditing
  • Safety

    • Knowledgeable on both understanding and implementing OSHA requirements
    • Laser Safety Officer
    • X-Ray Safety
    • EME/RF Safety
    • ISO45001 Management System and Auditing
    • Emergency Management and Response
    • Investigation
    • Respiratory Protection
    • Toxic gas and hazardous chemical usage
    • Semiconductor Manufacturing experience a plus

  • Crisis Management support this includes the maintenance of Crisis Management Plans, training of Crisis & Continuity Management Teams and the proactive coordination of crisis response activities.

Qualifications (Education, Technical Skills/Knowledge)

Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety; Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Preferred.
At least 5 - 10 years' experience in EHS roles in the Telecommunications, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing or Construction/Building Industries.



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adept at interacting with and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • A passion for and technical knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety program management combined with a high level of personal integrity to 'do the right thing'
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity particularly in the area of crisis management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Co-operative team player and team leader
