JOB TITLE: Master Technician JOB PURPOSE: Using their technical talents, they will support the design, testing and deployment of scientific research instrumentation including lidar, radar and in-situ instruments along with infrastructure to support the installations. These instruments are utilized on the Department's King Air research aircraft, mobile air chemistry facilities and/or laboratory platforms for purposes of atmospheric and environmental research. This multi-faceted position will require the use of expert knowledge to perform complex-level research, design, fabrication and troubleshooting of electronic and electrical systems under limited supervision. This team member will be responsible for the development, interpretation and adaptation of project plans, techniques, designs, drawings, schematics, and layouts to oversee the completion of projects by reviewing, analyzing and integrating the technical work of others to support teaching and research activities within the department. This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment. This position involves working on both national and international field projects with occasional hours being worked outside the normal workday, including evenings and weekends along with intermittent travel to support scientific field campaigns. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States, as sponsorship for work authorization or work visas is not available for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Associate's degree in a related field, or completion of related technical or vocational education/training Experience: 9 years work-related experience in the design, construction, fabrication, repair and maintenance of mechanical or electronic equipment or systems Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
