BRIDGES Program Coordinator

The Office of First Year Programs (FP) is seeking a BRIDGES Program Coordinator. Building Relationships, Inspiring Diversity, and Generating Excellence in Scholarship (BRIDGES), is a robust program for academic scholarship and grant recipients in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences with a focus on students with diverse backgrounds. The program provides opportunities for all participants to engage in experiences that connect students with one another and to resources across the school.

The incumbent manages all aspects of the BRIDGES program, including recruiting new BRIDGES participants annually and supervising a team of undergraduate BRIDGES Mentors. The BRIDGES Program Coordinator is responsible for evaluating and refining existing programming; creating and implementing new programming to address students' academic and cocurricular needs, including the needs of first-year BRIDGES Scholars and beyond; coordinating events such as the annual new student retreat, faculty-student networking events, monthly workshops, and other events and activities throughout the academic year. The incumbent will monitor a pre-existing program budget and is expected to teach multiple sections of a foundations course for first-year students on transitioning to college designed specifically for BRIDGES scholars. The BRIDGES Program Coordinator communicates the mission of BRIDGES through written communications and oral presentations to prospective and current students, parents, and faculty online, in print, and in person. The incumbent will also build and strengthen new and existing opportunities for collaboration with various units and offices throughout the University.


Job Summary

Executes the daily activities for an assigned program area, section, or special interest group. Manages administrative tasks and logistics. Conceives and implements co-curricular programs to include budgetary preparations and evaluations.


Essential Functions

Must be able to use a computer and keyboard and be able to use video communication technology (i.e., Zoom, Teams, etc.). Work is frequently conducted by email, telephone, in-person, and/or using video communications technology. The ability to communicate in a clear and concise fashion is essential.


Physical Effort

While on campus, this position is generally sedentary within an office setting, but the ability to travel around campus is necessary.
