Field Supervisor

Under general or specific direction of the Operations Manager(s), the EMS Field Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating EMS operations in the field. This position involves supervising EMS staff, ensuring compliance with protocols, providing support during emergency, non-emergency and mobile integrated healthcare calls, and maintaining high standards of patient care. The supervisor acts as a liaison between field personnel and administration, and ensures equipment readiness, crew performance, and operational efficiency. The EMS Field Supervisor will oversee and coordinate field ambulance and mobile integrated healthcare staff, ensuring efficient response to transports and visits both internal and external to the system. and supervise personnel across a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency situations, to identify training and discipline needs, to make recommendations for changes in policies and procedures, to manage multiple projects and priorities and to maintain confidentiality in the conduct of inquiries.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Crew Supervision and Leadership

* Oversee and coordinate EMS staff during shifts, including paramedics and EMTs.

* Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to EMS teams, particularly in high-stress or complex situations.

* Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and safety standards by all crew members.

* Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer feedback to team members. Operations Management

* Monitor ambulance deployment to ensure optimal response times and effective resource allocation.

* Review dispatch protocols and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency.

* Assist in managing shift schedules, coverage, and crew assignments to ensure adequate staffing. Quality Control and Compliance

* Conduct on-scene evaluations to ensure protocols are followed and high standards of patient care are maintained.

* Investigate complaints or concerns regarding EMS services, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.

* Ensure compliance with state and federal EMS regulations, licensing requirements, and company policies. Field Support and Response

* Respond to high-priority or complex calls, providing support to crews on the scene.

* Act as an intermediary between EMS crews, facility staff and other healthcare teams.

* Address equipment or resource needs in the field, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary. Training and Development

* Facilitate or assist with training programs for EMS personnel, including continuing education, skills assessments, and safety practices.

* Stay up to date with EMS advancements and best practices and share relevant information with field teams. Administrative Duties

* Prepare and maintain accurate records of field operations, incident reports, and patient care summaries.

* Assist with inventory management, ensuring ambulances are stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.

* Participate in meetings with management to discuss operational updates, performance reviews, and improvement initiatives.

Customer Service

* Maintain professional, compassionate interactions with patients and the public.

* Address any complaints or questions from patients, families, or the community, ensuring a positive perception of EMS services.

Qualifications:

Required:

* Associate's degree required or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

* Current MA EMT or Paramedic certification

* Five (5) years of EMS experience. Two (2) years experience at current certification level.

* Two (2) years of employment with Mass General Brigham Ambulance Services * Valid driver's license with a driving history that meets department requirements

* American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS Instructor Certifications preferred. Must obtain within one (1) year if not currently certified.

* Strong working knowledge of prehospital emergency care and interfacility transportation.

* Strong working knowledge of DPH/OEMS Statewide Treatment Protocols

Preferred:

* Previous experience as an EMS Instructor with clinical field preceptor/field training officer experience.

* Experience in project management, monitoring progress, identifying and resolving barriers and reporting status to management.

* Experience with ambulance operating systems such as RescueNet.

* Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong computer skills

* Strong organizational, analytical, and problem- solving skills; detail oriented.

* Ability to work with and effectively communicate with persons at all organization levels, including executives, management, and staff, and incorporating issues regarding highly confidential and sensitive financial and personal information.

Self-starter who can work alone and collaborate within a team environment.

* Quality, integrity, and customer service focused with the ability to handle simultaneous projects accurately and within deadlines.

* Ability to consistently and effectively function in a fast-paced environment that includes varying or unpredictable circumstances and numerous interruptions while exercising appropriate interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
