Position Purpose The Supervisor of Academic Affairs oversees Renown's Health's investment in medical and allied health education. Reporting to the Manager of Academic Affairs, this position oversees the daily operational aspects of the departments mission and ensures the quality and integrity of the system is maintained for effectively supporting Renown Health's medical student, graduate medical education programs (GME), continuing medical education (CME), and for coordinating school affiliations and student onboarding. Nature and Scope This position will be responsible for leading a team of employed staff and affiliated medical program liaisons. The role works across the organization to coordinate and execute the strategic direction for Renown Health's medical and allied health education programs and to cultivate a training environment of clinical scholarship and excellence for Renown Health's clinical staff. The position ensures that Renown Health's clinical and medical education programs function efficiently, and medical education programs support evidence-based, high quality, coordinated patient care. This position will: Execute goals and objectives for the Office of Academic Affairs: * Plan to achieve goals and establish priorities for clinical education, training, and continuing medical education. * Initiate changes in and support new policies, procedures, and/or methods of training and education as a result of an educational needs assessment within the organization Ensure the most effective operations of the Office of Academic Affairs through workflow development, process improvement, and coordination/integration of processes within the clinical environment: * Standardize services, communication, processes, resources, and practice to improve efficiency * Responsible for coordinating, and monitoring the training and educational programs for clinical staff * Provide a monthly update to management on preceptor need by program and by affiliation * Provide information to explain/clarify problems, issues, or requests * Analyze and evaluate ongoing department programs to identify areas where adjustments/improvements are needed Define and achieve financial targets in support of business goals: * Prepare and follow an annual operating budget. * Assist in the evaluation of organizational functions and structures to best determine the allocation and utilization of resources Identify, establish and evaluate programs, staff, policies and procedures to enhance the mission, vision, and values of the organization: * Assist in establishing and evaluating standards of performance to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operation of the medical education program * Review programs, suggest and make changes based on evidence-supported practices in medical education and evaluation procedures from stakeholders based on Renown strategic plan * Supervise, coach, and evaluate employees This position does not provide patient care. Minimum Qualifications Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Education: Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Must have a high school diploma. Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of five years' experience in medical education and/or medical staff coordination. Additional training or certification in medical education, or administrative management preferred. Knowledge of and leadership experience in the full rand of medical education and accreditation. License(s): Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria. Certification(s): None Computer / Typing: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. |
