Overview

SGS is a global leader in integrated packaging and marketing production for some of the largest consumer brands, retailers, pharmaceutical companies, and printing/converting industries in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America. We are seeking a qualified candidate for a Project Manager 1 or 2 position (level and pay based on experience).

As a Project Manager, you act as a facilitator within the supply chain for packaging artwork issues, communicating with design firms, printers, engravers, on-site personnel, sales, and clients to ensure proper printability for packaging. Your primary concern will be to coordinate packaging production via job instructions and schedules to complete jobs. Within SGS & Co, you will effectively communicate specifications for each piece of packaging artwork on your brands by utilizing our order entry system as well as being a resource for production departments when issues or questions arise. This is an in-office role based in Richmond, VA.

Essential Responsibilities



  • Manage project timelines
  • Understand clients' processes (e.g., deliverables, rework, etc.)
  • Ensure order entry is executed completely and concisely when delivered to production
  • Verify technical supplied data is correct to supplied art
  • Establish a positive, professional working relationship with our clients and design firms, engravers and printers
  • Respond to client/onsite personnel/sales in a timely manner
  • Consult with onsite personnel and/or clients during the artwork development and pre-press execution
  • Communicate artwork issues with the client as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Communicate issues to management
  • Communicate received and shipped art to onsite personnel/sales and perform user functionality in clients' databases used for tracking artwork projects
  • Document all critical and pertinent information that may impact quality
  • Participate in process improvement efforts and various production meetings to foster a positive creative impact on the business
  • Attend any pre-production meetings (or other meetings), when feasible, per onsite personnel/sales/client requests



    Project Manager 1 - Education, Experience, & Certification



    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Some college/associate's degree preferred
    • 1-3 years' experience preferred
    • Previous experience as a CSR in the print industry preferred
    • Experience in the design, print or production art industry preferred
    • Basic comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
    • Proofreading skills required
    • Ability to work independently after initial training



    Project Manager 2 - Education, Experience, & Certification



    • High school diploma or GED equivalent
    • Some college/associate's degree preferred
    • 2-5 years' experience preferred
    • Previous experience as a CSR in the print industry preferred
    • Experience in the design, print or production art industry
    • Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
    • Proofreading skills required
    • Ability to work independently after initial training

    Compensation Details

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $49,000 - $60,000 USD annually. Ultimately, in determining pay, we will consider the successful candidate's location, experience, and other job-related factors.
