WHAT YOU WILL DO: These associates must read architectural prints to create engineered wood I-joist layouts conforming to current 84 Lumber design practices, design engineered wood floor in engineering software ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to the current P&P, specify all necessary supplied hardware, maintain complete and updated Job Tracking Sheet, send approval letter to customers according to Associate Handbook when necessary, provide sales and customer support when necessary, ensure office and plan are maintained in a neat and orderly fashion and all plans are logged properly, and attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested by supervisor(s). Responsibilities Reading architectural prints to create engineered wood placement layouts Reading and interpreting blueprints Ensure designs and accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards Request sealed engineering drawings and/or repair details and follow-up to ensure complete when necessary Generate EWP placement layouts for final construction Generate and provide accurate pricing for estimating purposes Provide job-site support, with the aid of the sales department, when requested. Aid in training of new employees when required Qualifications High level of knowledge of the construction industry Ability to solve and define practical problems in various situations to reach a valid conclusion Ability to effectively use judgment while reviewing and conducting projects and estimations Effectively determine and interpret architectural design strategies Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building Ability to operate a computer and design software such as 20/20 Excellent oral and written communication skills Good math skills including but not limited to architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometry
