The Role

Save the Children's U.S. Programs (USP) division is committed to ensuring that all children in rural America have a healthy, strong foundation to thrive as learners and in life. Our contribution to a full cradle-to-career continuum is focused on the early years, birth through elementary school; and our goals are to increase kindergarten readiness and grade-level literacy and math proficiency for children in under-resourced rural communities. Save the Children does whatever it takes to be there for children in. As the Lead Associate, Community Impact, you'll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating the community engagement process in target communities across the state. Working closely with state and national program design, implementation and collective impact teams, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining early childhood-focused community partnerships, convening local working groups, conducting comprehensive community assessments, developing results-oriented programmatic blueprints, and building community capacity through advocacy, targeted outreach, training and technical assistance.

What You'll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Community Engagement (50%):

• Mobilizes, educates, and motivates members of the community to analyze and address social and systemic barriers to children's education, health and wellbeing.
• Establishes and expands local and state-wide networks, convening a wide variety of stakeholders from different communities and building awareness and support of Save the Children's programs and initiatives across the state.
• Identifies partners to contribute programs and services, aligns contributions, and coordinates community-wide events, activities, and distributions.
• Facilitates community meetings and leads members through the development and execution of action plans with shared goals and metrics that drive population-level results.
• Facilitate cultural exchange and understanding by organizing and hosting events that celebrate native traditions, art, music, and cuisine.
• Ensure that all community events and programs are accessible and welcoming to members of native communities, addressing any barriers or challenges they may face.
• Provide culturally sensitive support and resources to native individuals and families, recognizing and addressing unique needs and challenges.
• Continuously educate oneself and the broader community about the history, culture, and contributions of native communities, promoting awareness and appreciation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to incorporate indigenous perspectives and practices into organizational policies and practices.
• Plans, monitors and manages community projects from initiation through completion.

Training and Technical Assistance (30%):

• Strengthen community capacity to influence issues concerning children, empowering community members to hold government, schools, businesses and private organizations accountable for policies and programs that directly impact the community.
• Coordinate with internal teams to deliver training opportunities to partners across the state in the areas of child development, early literacy and math, Kindergarten readiness, child protection and advocacy.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for onsite and remote training and networking events.

Data Collection and Reporting (20%):

• Maintain applicable programmatic and community engagement databases to facilitate and lead efficient and effective contact and relationship management.
• Conduct comprehensive community needs assessments, capturing baselines to measure improvements, identify gaps, and address trends over time.
• Assist in developing, disseminating, and collecting community, partner and beneficiary surveys.
• Provide information on targets and performance to goals for proposals and reports.
• Collect storytelling assets, such as photos, videos, and testimonies to share with partners, donors, and other key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience supporting community-based initiatives.
• Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English, particularly with interpersonal and public speaking skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Demonstrated ability to convey a clear understanding of issues related to poverty in rural communities.
• Willingness and ability to travel within the state up to 30% of the time.

This position may require the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle to fulfill certain essential functions of the job. The incumbent should maintain a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with any Save the Children policies pertaining to the safe operation of motor vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the Spanish language will be considered an asset.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

• Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 - $74,100 base salary
• Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 - $67,450 base salary

• Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 - $60,800 base salary

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
