**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Risk Management to join our team. The Director of Risk Management will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's risk management program. This includes identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and organization. Reports to the Chief Legal Officer.
**Responsibilities**
+ Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management and safety program.
+ Identify and assess potential risks to the organization, including clinical, operational, and financial risks.
+ Direct and participate in the investigation, documentation and assessment of all actual and potential liability risks for DCI.
+ Participate in medical and general liability claims management and coordinate with Director of Insurance on claim events for DCI, DCI Donor Services and DCI's subsidiaries.
+ Develop and implement proactive strategies to mitigate identified and potential risks.
+ Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of risk management strategies and make necessary adjustments.
+ Oversee and participate in our Emergency Command Center to provide immediate consultation, mitigation and recommendations in responding to adverse events.
+ Collaborate with various departments, including clinical, legal, compliance, and operations, to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.
+ Develop and present education on risk management in the care and support arenas, legal requirements for risk management, and incident prevention.
+ Provide presentations/updates to clinical and operations leaders at our annual meeting and at other times.
+ Conduct regular risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
+ Prepare and present reports on risk management activities to senior leadership.
+ Stay current with industry trends and best practices in risk management.
+ Exemplify and foster a strong culture of safety within the company.
**Qualifications**
+ Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
+ Licensed to practice law in a U.S. state, Tennessee preferred.
+ Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in risk management, including claims administration, preferably in a kidney care or other healthcare setting.
+ Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
+ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills within DCI and with external, sometimes adverse, parties.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Ability to collect event information and organize into a coherent narrative.
+ Highly self-motivated. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
+ Ability to inspire trust and be seen as someone who provides support and assistance.
+ Excellent presentation skills, including ability to speak before large audiences and prepare and provide presentations.
+ Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office; ability to learn new computer applications.
+ Certification in risk management (e.g., CPHRM) preferred, or attained within six (6) months of hire.
