Job Overview-

Under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Physician, he provides healthcare services to patients.

Required:

  • Graduated from a Physician Assistant Program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). New Jersey License from the State Board of Medical Examiners-Physician Advisory Committee.
  • Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/ Physician Assistant Advisory
  • Basic Life Support (BLS);
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Full time
  • 40 hours

Essential Functions:

  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care.
  • Works with physicians to help triage and navigate patients safely and efficiently for their procedures.
  • Will help physician follow up on results of tests such as pathology or radiology, and also communicate results with patients and family.
  • May be needed to help see patients in hospital on inpatient service, or to help support inpatient advanced practice provider team.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal governments.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers's compliance standards as they appear in Rutgers Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all federal, state and Rutgers regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Will work seamlessly with other advanced providers part of the advanced endoscopy team to help support the practice as a whole.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
