| About the Position
 
 A USAL heavy duty diesel mechanic is responsible for performing routine, bumper-to-bumper service and repairs on diesel tractors and auto transport trailers. The mechanic performs tractor and trailer inspections and preventative maintenance; identifies problems using diagnostic software; enters data in labor/inventory management system; completes work orders; and replaces parts.

 Minimum Requirements
 
 
 
 At least 21 years of agePrimary residence within 50 miles of the assigned terminalCertified mechanic from an accredited school and two (2) years' experience as a heavy duty diesel mechanic -OR- three (3) years of heavy duty diesel mechanic experienceExperience with PACCAR diesel engine, aftertreatment systems, electronic control systems, and accredited certifications (at least two of the following categories) is preferred: Diesel Engines, Drive Train, Brakes, Suspension & Steering, Electrical/Electronic Systems, HVAC, or Preventative Maintenance InspectionWithin the first 90 days of start date, obtain certifications in state inspection, A/C, and air brakesDemonstrable knowledge of machines and tools, their design, uses, maintenance, and repairsStrong mechanical aptitude, ability to adapt to a variety of situations, and attention to detailAbility to interpret technical resources (e.g., service bulletins, repair manuals)Ability to successfully complete forklift certification training and learn welding techniquesAbility to clearly communicate and share information with co-workers and customersClean pre-employment screening and drug testAbility to read and write English and legally able to work in the United States
