Summary:

The Decision Support (DS) Analyst performs sophisticated database mining and analyses of clinical and administrative data across the Cook Children's Health Care System (CCHCS) companies to support the decision-making needs of senior management (including Boards, C-Suite managers, and physician and nursing executives). The DS Analyst position will leverage large CCHCS data systems using Microsoft T-SQL, SAS statistical software and a variety of other Business Intelligence (BI) analytical tools. Visualization software such as Tableau, Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics and Microsoft Office will be used to build dashboards, key performance metrics and other performance reports to translate highly complex results for both technical and non-technical customers. The dissemination of data includes presentations to customers /stakeholder groups and requires strong written and oral communication abilities. The DS Analyst acts as a lead resource in the design and on-going work relating to strategic planning, performance scorecards, product line analysis, market share, and benchmark comparisons. The DS Analyst is responsible to bridge the gap between clinical and business analysis through the combined knowledge of information systems, health care data, decision support applications and analytics. The Healthcare Analyst works with data that requires consistent validation for timeliness, reliability and usefulness. The position collaborates directly with a variety of stakeholders including internal and external requestors. The requirements of each stakeholder are evaluated to ascertain the most appropriate method of sharing data, using appropriate mechanisms to minimize PHI disclosure, prevent inappropriate data sharing and protect data integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required or in lieu of Master's Degree applicable certifications that demonstrate knowledge of the enterprise health record management system and or analytic acumen and mastery of software tools, (EPIC Badge, EPIC Proficiency, EPIC Certification, SAS Certification, SQL Certification, Power BI Certification).

  • 5 years of healthcare applicable experience is required.

  • Strong code writing / programming database skills in a Microsoft SQL Server and SAS environment required to manipulate and analyze large volumes of health care data. Other BI applications may be employed as warranted.

  • Proficiency with Tableau visualization software to create advanced visualizations and meaningful reports for end users.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

  • Strong technical skills with the ability to quickly learn new computer programs and data sources.

  • Extensive analytical ability required to evaluate and interpret market, financial, clinical, and other supportive data.

  • Ability to evaluate highly complex and confidential performance data and determine if contingency plans are required to meet stated objectives.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills required to communicate results, strategic initiatives, goals, and objectives.

  • Able to work effectively with clinical and administrative staff in a multi-disciplinary environment.
