PRIMARY FUNCTIONS This is a unique and creative position, at the direction of the Economic Development Administrator or designee, on specific developmental projects.
Work involves assisting the director in planning, organizing, packaging and implementing specific economic development programs, dealing with downtown development, harbor, port, transportation, environment, public investments and any other matters which are considered part of the economic development director's responsibly. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Economic Development Administrator or designee and is reviewed through conferences and observation of results.
Hybrid remote work options for some aspects of the work may be available once work routine are established. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE A Master's Degree in Planning, Economics, or other related field, and at least two years of experience in economic development or community development; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a "Special Fund," non-tested position. Continued employment contingent upon availability of future funding. This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with
Local 3144, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.

Special Funded employees shall not be covered by the City pension but shall continue to be covered by Social Security.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check, (2) a pre-employment physical examination, including pre-employment drug screening in accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*, and (3) a 90-day probationary period.
