As the Analyst, Payroll Tax, you'll prepare government reporting, develop planning strategies, and oversee compliance to ensure we meet our legal payroll tax obligations and fiduciary withholding/payment requirements. You'll research and recommend methods for processing company tax, withholding and transaction information to enhance internal controls, streamline operations and increase efficiencies.

The annual salary range for this role is $62,613 - $93,920. GXO, in good faith, believes this is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This rate may be modified in the future. This job is also eligible for [bonus/incentive/commission/equity] pay. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Prepare and submit federal, state, and local tax submissions to ADP; prepare and submit Canadian tax returns.
  • Conduct research and analysis on payroll tax issues as needed; identify issues and provide possible solutions for review by managers.
  • Perform payroll tax accounting functions, including monthly account reconciliations.
  • Monitor current developments affecting government reporting and payroll taxes.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations of executive compensation, including stock options, incentive pay, deferred compensation and other miscellaneous perquisites.
  • Process daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax remittances and reporting via ADP.
  • Correspond with IRS, state, local and Canadian agencies in the normal course of business to ensure issue resolution.
  • Support special projects, system and process testing, and other business needs.
  • Provide administration of Mexican payroll disbursements and corresponding accounting entries.
  • Run SAP queries to ensure employee records and systems are calculating taxes accurately.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent related work or military experience.
  • 1 year of progressively responsible experience in government reporting or accounting.
  • Systems knowledge and experience, including proficient use of Microsoft Office and ADP software.
  • Experience conducting tax research using the internet and other published sources.
  • General knowledge of and experience with state and local tax laws and regulations and GAAP.

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Systems knowledge and experience, including Oracle Financials and SAP.
  • 2 or more years of progressively responsible experience in government reporting or accounting.
  • Experience understanding and interpreting tax laws/regulations and applying them to operations.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written); experience communicating effectively with regulatory agencies, tax reviewers, state and local auditors, independent auditors, lawyers, support peers, end users and all levels of corporate management.
