A Brief Overview
This role is responsible for large & complex laboratory operations including the advanced workflow, quality control, management and supervision of staff and operations planning.

Develops new experimental procedures and Lab services as needed. Collaborates and interacts with other researchers within the institution and at other institutions. Prepares laboratory progress reports, and laboratory budget plans. Serve as resource person for research colleagues and a mentor for less experienced research personnel.

The ideal candidate will have PhD in Engineering with a musculoskeletal background.

What you will do

  • Independently plans projects, directs lab work, analyzes results and provides oversight and coordination of workflow
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs, protocols, policies and procedures, and performance standards
  • Maintain collaborative interaction w other lab and research units to establish and maintain consensus performance standards; Periodically assess data from lab analysis to maintain standards
  • Manage, mentor, train and supervise laboratory staff, formulate work standards for personnel, draft and deliver annual performance evaluations, conduct time utilization, productivity, and other assessments
  • Ensures staff adheres to/maintains and implements department policies, procedures, protocols, objectives, safety, etc
  • Directs personnel efforts in achieving the strategic plan for the laboratory
  • Develops and oversees management of laboratory resource allocations; budget management
  • Assist and write papers and center grant applications
  • Participate in site visits and present lectures when appropriate

Education Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Required
  • Doctorate Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least four (4) years of scientifically relevant experience Required and
  • At least four (4) years of laboratory direction or management experience Required and
  • At least three (3) years of lead, management or supervisory experience Required and
  • At least one (1) year of budgeting and forecasting experience Required
  • At least four (4) years of post-doctoral fellowship experience Preferred or
  • At least six (6) years of scientifically relevant experience Preferred and
  • At least six (6) years of laboratory direction or management experience Preferred and
  • At least five (5) years of lead, management or supervisory experience Preferred and
  • At least three (3) years of budgeting and forecasting experience Preferred
