The Cox Enterprises Integrated Business Technologies (IBT) team is looking for a dynamic individual to be the FinOps Manager . This role is crucial in optimizing cloud costs, ensuring financial accountability, and fostering a culture of collaboration between finance, IT, and engineering teams. You will play a key part in managing cloud expenditure while enabling our organization to achieve its business goals. The goal is to mature the organization where evidence-based decisions in near-real time can be made to inform, optimize, and operate cloud use to support increased business value.

Primary Responsibilities

Cloud Cost Optimization:

  • Monitor and analyze cloud spending across a multi cloud environment.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities such as right-sizing resources, reservations, and scaling options.
  • Implement policies and tools to reduce waste and improve efficiency.


Financial Management:

  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to develop accurate cloud budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide regular cost reports and insights to stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper tagging and allocation of cloud resources for cost transparency.


Collaboration with Teams:

  • Act as a liaison between enterprise architecture, infrastructure, engineering, IT, and finance to align priorities and strategies.
  • Educate teams on FinOps best practices, tools, and strategies.
  • Build a culture of shared responsibility for cloud costs.
  • Alignment with the Technology Business Management framework for overall IT spend that includes Cloud costs.


Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Leverage analytics to drive decision-making and strategy for cloud usage.
  • Develop dashboards and automated reporting for stakeholders.
  • Track and analyze cloud performance metrics to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Establish metrics, such as: Accurate Cloud Forecasts, Unit Cost Economics, Discount/Reservation Coverage, Percentage of Untagged Resources, and Efficiency Opportunities.


Tooling and Automation:

  • Implement and manage FinOps tools.
  • Automate repetitive tasks such as cost reporting, alerts, and tagging enforcement.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 6+ years of experience; or MS and 4+ years of experience; or a Ph.D. and 1+ years of experience; or 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency in multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI) and their cost management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in Excel, BI tools, and data visualization software.
  • Knowledge of FinOps principles and frameworks.
  • Experience creating and delivering executive level presentations, developing communications, and communicating to cross-functional audiences.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or FinOps Certified Practitioner.
  • Familiarity with Cloudability or other cloud cost management and optimization solutions.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
  • Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
  • Familiarity with the Technology Business Management taxonomy and the allocation of cloud expenses.
  • Experience with IT budgeting and forecasting.


USD 99,000.00 - 165,000.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $99,000.00 - $165,000.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
