Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Who You'll Work With
You will be a core part of the global Proposal Excellence (PEX) team and the broader Client Activation function, based in Tampa, FL or San Jose, CR.
McKinsey is a global management consulting firm that helps our clients identify and set the direction toward their most important goals. We work together with our clients to turn these ambitious goals into reality. The firm's primary objective has remained constant over time: to serve senior leaders as their most trusted external advisor on critical issues facing their organizations. We have made a significant commitment to working across sectors (public, social, and private) to tackle the world's most pressing issues. With exceptional people in 65 countries, we combine global expertise and local insight to help create the change that truly matters.
The Proposal Excellence (PEX) function enables Partners and CSTs to create distinctive client proposal experiences, and innovates and expands our Firm's proposal thinking, infrastructure, tools and expertise. To do this, we draw on the best of our knowledge and expertise across all functions and sectors in all regions, and bring our integrated experience to the whole firm.
You will be a thought partner to CSTs, serving as the point person managing priority Request for Information (RFI) proposal opportunities. You will help consulting teams (including Partners) answer RFI questions, and support, develop and maintain the backbone of RFI materials required for successful RFI proposal questionnaires submissions. You will collaborate and build alliances with colleagues across PEX and other relevant Firm functions, including Legal, Compliance, Risk, IT and beyond, to gather, maintain and disseminate required content.
You will also be part of McKinsey's Proposal Services path, a global community focused on growing our existing and new client relationships by enabling efficient and effective delivery of proposals. You will collaborate with other colleagues (e.g. proposal strategists and management professionals, client development advisors, designers, competitive insights specialists, and other firm functions) to shape our thinking on proposal best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Your impact within our firm
You will be a key member of the central PEX team, with a focus on enabling CSTs globally to co-create RFI responses.
You will build our firm's RFI support services (incl. the supporting systems and processes that enable you to scale the service beyond the teams you can personally support), proactively innovating the way RFI knowledge can be scaled and accessed (e.g. via AI tools).
Specifically, you will:
  • Facilitate the proposal RFI document and process, working independently with CSTs on opportunities
  • Embed yourself in consultant and proposal teams in agile operating models to learn client context and create compelling proposal RFI documents and materials
  • Create timely and high-quality proposal RFI content, gather feedback, and own the cadence of iterations
  • Lead the navigation of the proposal RFI process and help CSTs implement best practices
  • Upskill quickly on client context, embed with the CST, and independently create compelling proposal RFI documents and materials
  • Seek opportunities to bring the best of the Firm's broader capabilities and expertise into proposals
  • Adhere to relevant procedures (e.g., file structure, archive, backup) for all proposal materials and processes
  • Prepare templates, compliance matrices, close-out activities, and/or other administrative elements throughout proposal development based on submission requirements
  • Build proposal development expertise and create content and thought leadership that can be used as playbooks/ best practices at the cell or global level
  • Maintain and populate proposal assets (playbooks, digital tools, templates, best-practice examples, reference cases)
  • More broadly, you will be an integral part of our global PEX community, and identify opportunities, and support creation and continuous improvement of Proposal Services assets (playbooks, tools, templates, best practice examples, reference cases, capability-building, etc.)
Your qualifications and skills
  • University degree
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Basic understanding of professional services client development
  • Strong research, and conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent communications skills in English, written and verbal (e.g., ability to synthesize and convey complex information clearly and compellingly)
  • Excellent organizational capabilities; ability to work effectively in fast paced environment and to prioritize and balance competing, time-urgent demands
  • Results-oriented; able to work independently and to proactively identify improvement opportunities; entrepreneurial and self-driven
  • Collaborative; strong personal presence and credibility; able to navigate complex organizational environment, build relationships and influence stakeholders across roles and functions at all organizational levels
  • Intellectual curiosity on management consulting, business performance and holistic client impact
  • High professional and ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
