THE POSITION

As a Health Care Nurse Surveyor, you would conduct inspections of nursing homes to assess the quality of care and services, while also determining the eligibility of facilities for state licensure, certification, and federal long-term care programs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for performing professional assessments to verify adherence to state and federal regulations governing long-term care providers and facilities. Your responsibilities will include evaluating the quality of care provided to residents in long-term care environments and addressing complaints related to care standards, resident welfare, and available services. It is crucial to apply your expertise, utilize established methodologies, and comply with relevant policies and regulations across different healthcare professional fields. You will be expected to work autonomously, collaborate with a partner, and engage as a team member or act as the appointed team leader during on-site evaluations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment,
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This work requires irregular and flexible work hours in order to meet department needs and accommodate state and federal mandates.
  • You will be required to carry a cell phone.
  • This position requires statewide travel, overnight travel, and frequent travel within Lancaster, Chester, and Delaware Counties.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, on the days you are not out surveying with the team. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in audiology, communication sciences and disorders (CSD), cognitive disabilities, gerontology, health administration, nutrition, dietetics, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychology, public health, recreational therapies, respiratory therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, nursing home administration, or vocational rehabilitation; and one year of related professional experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of related professional experience.

Special Requirements:
  • This position requires successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.
  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
