THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will perform a variety of duties at the Water Treatment Plant, and ensure potable water for the facility, Polk Fire Department, and the Polk Post Office. You will conduct water testing and monitor the distribution system, clear the stream water intake and raw water well to eliminate debris, inspect the chlorinators, perform minor housekeeping tasks, and record monthly data for submission to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and other interested agencies. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel, overtime, and call-out time as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid certificate issued by the State Board for the Certification of Waterworks Operators for the class and type of water treatment plant operated (Class C or greater and E; Sub Classes 1, 6, 8 and 11).
  • All candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License that is not currently under suspension.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
