Description
Is an internship passionate about changing the world's energy future intriguing? If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for! In this paid internship you will contribute to the modeling and simulation of Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs) using advanced tools developed by the Nuclear Energy Advanced Modeling and Simulation (NEAMS) program. Key Responsibilities: Conduct detailed modeling of pool-type MSRs, perform uncertainty quantification related to the reactor's operation, focusing on variations in thermophysical properties, and potential changes in reactor core geometry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in nuclear energy and gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art simulation tools. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of modeling and simulation software experience/coursework in MOOSE/Marmot/BISON. Reporting to the Thermal Fluid Systems Methods and Analysis group. This team works a 9x80 schedule, and works onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university. Qualifications
