The selected intern will work closely with a database developer to design, develop, and maintain MS Access database solutions for business operations. This role involves creating and optimizing database tables, establishing proper relationships, and implementing normalization structures to ensure data integrity. The intern will be responsible for developing user-friendly forms and comprehensive reports using MS Access tools, while writing and debugging Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code to enhance database functionality. A key aspect of this position involves implementing split database architecture to separate front-end and back-end components for improved performance and maintainability. Working remotely, the intern will collaborate with team members on various database development projects, document database structures, procedures, and code, and participate in regular progress meetings to provide status updates. Additional responsibilities include testing and debugging database applications, supporting data migration efforts, and assisting with integration initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior in Computer Science or related field
• Strong understanding of database concepts and SQL
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Access
• Ability to work remotely and maintain consistent communication
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired Skills:

• Previous experience with MS Access database development
• Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
• Understanding of database normalization principles
• Experience with version control
• Familiarity with SQL Server or other enterprise database systems
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with remote collaboration tools
• Basic understanding of data security principles
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

Clearance Requirements:

• Ability to obtain/maintain a government security clearance.
