Manager, Academic Excellence American Public University System
The Manager, Academic Excellence, provides leadership and oversight in support of Research and Academic Excellence, while also upholding the University's commitment to maintaining the highest standards in content, curriculum, along with Research and Academic Excellence and other, cross-collaborative and related projects, ensuring a consistent internal and external customer experience, quality content across projects and processes, and an accurate representation of University-wide policies within directives, initiatives, projects, and processes. This position provides management and direction to consultants involved in the course quality assurance process, providing proficient oversight while exhibiting a high level of competency in quality measures. This position is vital to upholding an engaging student experience in the classroom that is so critical to the robust reputation and heritage of the American Public University System. Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide oversight of a quality assurance team tasked with reviewing content and curriculum for customers. Ensure compliance by team members with project standards and directives through the use of SOPs, checklists, and University standards, including University-wide policies.
- Ensure all reviewed and produced content and curriculum adheres to APUS standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop, design, and implement standard operating procedures, checklists, and any related documents needed to maintain Academic Excellence in quality assurance reviews, and/or other projects and processes across RAE, in collaboration with other departments or executive leadership, and as directed.
- Proficiently manage and execute projects and process, adhering to deadlines, department and project guidelines, SOPs, and initiatives.
- Support efforts and initiatives across Research and Academic Excellence, in support of the Dean, efficiently and effectively problem solving, while prioritizing duties and responsibilities to manage expectations.
- Assist, support, and represent the Dean, Research and Academic Excellence as directed by attending, leading, or directing meetings and discussions.
- Manage Academic Excellence projects and processes in support of the Dean by upholding directives, leading teams to ensure adherence, working cross collaboratively as needed.
- Draft correspondence in accordance with directives, projects, and processes, ensuring clear, concise communication.
- Ability to write and communicate effectively and professionally with Executive Leadership, teams, across departments, and within Research and Academic Excellence.
- Ability to pivot and work collaboratively on different, larger, or higher-level projects that may cross teams and departments.
- Serve on committees and task forces as Research and Academic Excellence representative when appropriate and necessary.
- Adapt to challenges and changes quickly and efficiently, pivoting as needed and supporting supervised teams throughout.
- Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply sound judgment to solve problems that are both routine and complex in nature.
- Display and act in a professional manner when representing the University and while attending a variety of functions, both virtually and in person.
- Hire, train and support employee development through coaching and training.

- Experience leading a team in quality assurance, copyediting, and/or other management experience.
- Master's degree in related field
- 3-5 years management or supervisory experience.
- 3-5 Years Customer Service experience in a highly visible environment, meeting and/or exceeding expectations.
- Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, collaborate with other departments, and be comfortable interacting with executive leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with flexibility to pivot to address higher priorities as needed.
- Excellent Customer Service Skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with various audiences (written, verbal, listening, presenting).
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use technology to enhance work efforts, creating greater efficiency.
- Meeting and travel planning experience.
- Experience in copyediting, writing, editing, and review of documents and other content related material.
- Experience in budget planning and management.
- Experience with MSOffice Suite, including Planner, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint
