Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a DevOps Software Engineer to work in our Data Twin Frameworks department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off.

You will engineer effective solutions that integrate security, speed and reliability into the development and delivery of software applications and services. Apply experience in software development, server administration, application hosting, process automation and cyber security.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Apply software engineering, server administration, cyber security, application hosting, and process automation principles, theories, and concepts to provide solutions for a variety of environments and application hosting needs.
  • Plan, develop, and implement solutions to complex automation problems and major projects.
  • Support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design activities.
  • Participate in technical reviews for projects at various phases of development and provide recommendations for computer technology solutions to customers and management's needs.
  • Maintain and upgrade a variety of application delivery and hosting environments.
  • Create new methodologies and architectures that improve the organizations' mission and build security into the process of application delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with INL's safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.
  • Document activities, reports, and existing technologies.
  • Write and present technical papers representing the INL.
  • Analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and possible effects of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
  • Contribute to professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and new technologies.
  • Use expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Level 2: Bachelor's and 2 years of experience. Master's and 0 years of experience. PhD and 0 years' experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's and 5 years of experience. Master's and 2 years of experience. PhD and 2 years 'of experience.
  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related field.
  • Experience using Azure, Azure Dev Ops, Ansible, GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins or other Cloud or CI/CD platforms as applicable.
  • Experience programming languages such as Python, Elixir, Golang, and Java.
  • Experience with cloud database such as Postgres or SQLite.
  • Experience with infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, Azure ARM, AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Docker and managing a Kubernetes cluster.
  • Experience with source control such as git.
  • Experience following agile development methodologies.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($ 77,628 - $159,228) / Level 3 ($93,204 - $191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
