Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Mechanical Designer to work in our Design and Drafting department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) facility with every Friday off. You will apply multi-disciplined CAD drafting skills and techniques to prepare new computer-generated drawings and drawing changes to support multi-disciplined company engineering activities. You will report to the manager of the Design and Drafting department. Responsibilities Include:
- Participate and lead the design team to develop complete design and/or CAD models compatible with applicable codes and standards and pre-established cost, scope, and schedule dimensions for purposes of fabrication, installation, construction or modification of nuclear facilities, structures, systems and/or components (SSCs).
- Provide drafting checking support for assigned group's experiment drawings, including precision mechanical, electrical, piping and instruments drawings (P&IDs), etc.
- Participate and lead in the selection of nuclear components, specifications, and acceptance criteria to be communicated via associated engineering documentation to support the end use.
- Check drawings ensuring Fit, Form, and Function for Drawings of all complexity.
- Provide design guidance to Engineering and supporting organizations.
- Direct the work efforts of drafting personnel to achieve cost-effective engineering project cost management.
- Train/mentor peers in the application of multi-disciplined design development skills and techniques.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 2: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience, an advanced degree in a relevant field, or 8 years of other education and/or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience. an advanced degree and 2 years of experience, or 11 years of other education and/or relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($65,064 - $133,416) / Level 3 ($77,628 - $159,228). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
