Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Fabrication Machinist to work in our MFC Manufacturing Support department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off. You will fabricate, modify, assemble, adjust, and test components and assemblies to specific tolerances and design criteria to support engineering projects.. You will report directly to the manager of the MFC Manufacturing Support department. Responsibilities Include:
- Operate manual and Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) shop equipment to close tolerances.
- Use CAD/CAM software and direct controller interface to develop CNC programs.
- Provide imaginative and practical solutions to technical problems. Suggest alternate solutions to improve product design and fabrication efficiency.
- Document fabrication and quality related information in work packages. Provide estimates of shop work and maintaining the accuracy of work packages.
- Read and interpret drawings and sketches.
- Work with members of engineering and research groups in fabrication and assembly of components.
- Review designs with customers to help define job requirements, offer recommendations for improving product design, fabrication, testing, and assembly.
- Provide status on jobs in progress to project leaders and management.
- * Resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe working environment, maintain equipment, and keep their work area clean and organized.
- Responsible for the quality of end products.
- Train and mentor other staff in fabrication techniques and in following proper work controls.
- May act as lead as defined in current working agreement.
- Maintain all training and qualifications (Individual Training Plan and Job Function Requirements).
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- HS diploma or equivalent and 7 years of relevant experience, or a relevant vocational certificate and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to operate mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment both manual and CNC.
- Ability to create programs, tool paths, libraries, models, step files and PDFs in CAD/CAM software as well as demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a knowledge level commensurate with current and future software versions.

- The pay for this position is $38.62/hour. Fully qualified/1st Class pay rate is $44.59. (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
