Job Description: Training Specialist III / Site Lead

Summary

This position includes providing on-site course support services at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, in support of the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE)/Department of Operational Medicine (DoOM). Services include training support specialists to augment 6H-F35/300-F38 TCMC program personnel in the execution of standardized instruction and testing. The purpose of this course is to provide Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and operational medicine training for Physicians, Physician Assistants, Dentists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Special Operations Medics, Paramedics, 68W20-40 Combat Medics, and other select medical personnel assigned to Roles of Care 1 and 2 prior to deployment to a combat theater. Work locations include Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis.

Responsibilities

Provides assistance in the training of Soldiers in a wide variety of individual and team skills for TCMC courses. Training support activities include




  • Serve as primary program point of contact to TCMC government leadership for logistics, contract personnel resource scheduling, course delivery requirements, and represent support course-specific planning meetings.



  • Provide technical advice and assist program course preparation, delivery, and logistics. Prepare monthly restock/resupply class 8 inventory report.



  • Responsible for organizing and coordinating training and storage facilities (to include 9 Conex/storage sheds and buildings) on JBSA Ft. Sam Houston/Camp Bullis in support of TCMC program of instruction.



  • Provide input and feedback on the training schedule and academic calendar.



  • Provide advice to Program Director, faculty, and staff on developing logistics schedule aligned with course support requirements and works with each faculty member on scheduling and classroom/student equipment needs.



  • Provide course delivery and course preparation support services.



  • Supervise team of training specialists performing Manikin Management, Aid Station Management. Skill Station Management. Medical sets/kits Assemblage and Distribution, Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK), Warrior Aid and Litter Kits (WALK) and SKEDCO extraction devices, Lane Realism Enhancement, and other training support functions.




Qualifications:




  • Associates Degree. 5 years' experience.



  • Former Instructor or Training Specialist supporting the TCMC program preferred



  • Required to lift and carry equipment and/or materials weighing up to 200 pounds as part of a 2-person team.



  • On occasion, must carry this equipment up and down stairs and on uneven terrain in the normal functions of his/her job.



  • Able to work with instructors in the classroom and/or outdoors and in inclement weather.



  • Able to stand for long periods of time while teaching in a field or classroom environment. May require standing for an 8-hour shift or longer.



  • Capable of wearing personal protective equipment as needed during inclement weather and MEDCoE/Health Protection Condition level requirements.
