Summary

This position coordinates sex offender treatment groups and the activities of the treatment team. This position also assumes the administrative responsibilities for the team area. Conducts individual and group counseling sessions. Also acts as leader and spokesperson for the team in staff committees or other divisional or departmental functions.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Schedules and assigns groups to the sex offender therapists.
• Supervises sex offender therapists as assigned by the Clinical Director. Completes performance evaluations in a timely manner and makes personnel action recommendations. Interviews and hires therapists. Takes disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
• Provides consultative services to the treatment team.
• Works closely with the Clinical Director to formulate and implement changes or new programs.
• Develops individualized treatment plans for detainees and conducts developmental therapy sessions with them in accordance to treatment plans and specific methodologies and techniques.
• Facilitates group and individual sex offender therapy sessions.
• Maintains thorough, detailed, and accurate client case files and records.
• Maintains caseload including documentation of case notes, arranging individual sessions, planning interventions, and providing therapeutic support to all assigned clients.
• Maintains and updates database on all participation in the Sex Offender Education and Treatment Program.
• Prepares and reviews reports as needed.
• Acts as Clinical Director when the director is absent.
• May facilitate educational presentations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Master's degree in clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing, counseling, social work, or closely related field of study for direct treatment of inmates with psychological problems.
• Two (2) years of practical experience working with a sex offenders' population and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Must be able to perform therapeutic interaction with inmates who have serious psychological problems.
• Must be able to perform psychological evaluation and assessment.
• Must possess a dynamic personality that is flexible enough to evolve with each detainee through the entire therapeutic process
• Must be able to actively listen to the detainees and pay specific attention to non-verbal or covert forms of communications.
• Must demonstrate sound judgment and an even temperament when completing assignments.
• Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment.
• Good organizational skills and the ability to make detailed reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
