Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state.

Job Overview:

The Director of Community Supervision Treatment and Programs is assigned to Central Office and has statewide oversight of the behavioral health services and programming for Community Supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development: This position will work with Community Supervision leadership to enhance the treatment, rehabilitation, and programming model for the Community Supervision population.
  • Supervision and Management: Provide statewide supervision of the Behavior-al Health Managers (BHM). Ensure effective scheduling and completion of offender assessments, development of treatment plans, facilitation of evidence-based programming, and collaboration with community treatment providers.
  • Training: Ensure Behavioral Health Specialists (BHS) and BHMs receive the necessary training, supervision, and clinical support to provide effective sub-stance use and mental health services. Ensure staff comply with departmental training and continuing education requirements to maintain clinical licensure if required.
  • Compliance and Oversight: Maintain statewide oversight of personnel, including employment, promotions, transfers, retention, and performance evaluations, in accordance with policy.
  • Ensure consistent guidance and clinical consultation to behavioral health staff, working closely with TDOC Clinical Services to maintain appropriate levels of care.
  • Provide oversight to ensure effective implementation and delivery of evidence-based programming that aligns with current evidence-based practices.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Collect and compile data as required to re-port metrics related to offender assessments, referrals, and evidence-based program facilitation.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Serve as a liaison to TDOC Clinical Services to ensure the behavioral health staff operate within all clinical guidelines and practices when providing services to offenders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in rehabilitation or social work. A master's degree in a social science field from an accredited college or university and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional clinical work is preferred. Three years of full-time professional-level work in a related field with one year of experience leading staff.

Special Qualifications: Preferably, candidates will possess a current licensure from the State of Tennessee as a mental health professional, which will be maintained during employment. Preferred clinical licensure includes LPC with a Mental Health Services provider designation, LCSW, LSPE, or Licensed Psychologists.
