Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provides healthcare coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and active employee giving and volunteer programs.

Medica will host a 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you'll be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Human Resources Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in various HR functions. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources and develop valuable skills in a supportive setting.

Job Description:

As an HR Intern, you will support our HR department in day-to-day operations and assist in various projects aimed at supporting our 2025 department goals and improving the employee experience. You will gain exposure to the full spectrum of HR activities. As an intern, you will:



  • Participate in key projects on the Total Rewards team within Compensation, Benefits, Leaves of Absence, and more
  • Create job aids, draft communications, and update HR content on the intranet for employee utilization
  • Assist the Compensation team with initiatives such as data/system maintenance, updating leader documents, and drafting job descriptions
  • Review HR data through surveys, reports, etc. and transform raw data into understandable and actionable information
  • Assist with various HR-related projects and tasks as assigned


Qualifications:



  • Current junior or senior pursuing a degree in Business or related field; Human Resource majors beneficial but not required
  • Strong interest in HR
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness and ability to learn new systems and programs as needed
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to pivot quicky and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work from the Minnetonka office, on average, 2+ times per week.
