Position Description
The Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in environmental policy and politics beginning on August 16, 2025, and ending on May 15, 2026. The ideal candidate will have the skills necessary to teach the public policy core course and elective environmental law/policy courses in our NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program. Undergraduate teaching requirements include a US-focused environmental policy course, American government, and introductory courses in public administration and policy. The expected teaching load is 4-4, with at least one graduate course and up to three undergraduate courses per semester. A PhD in Political Science, Public Administration, or a closely related field is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered.

The Political Science Department has 20 full-time faculty, over 360 undergraduate majors ( http://polisci.cofc.edu/), and a Geography Minor ( http://geography-minor.cofc.edu/). The department also supports a NASPAA Accredited Master of Public Administration ( http://puba.cofc.edu/) and a Master of Science in Environmental and Sustainability Studies ( http://mes.cofc.edu/) program.
