We are seeking an intern in our Human Resources department (hybrid) This position will be full-time (40 hours per week) during the 2025 academic Summer, with potential to continue part-time (20 hours per week) during the Fall semester. The internship pays competitively with other regional internships, there is a potential for continued, part-time work through the school year, and a strong history of conversion to full time positions following graduation

The Human Resource Intern provides assistance with and facilitates the human resource process within the human resource department. This position assists in the resolution of personnel and benefit related problems. It ensures and encompasses effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. The human resource intern assists the department in making sure these plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to human resources function as needed including record keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with new hire orientation, and onboarding tasks

  • Update organizational chart on regular tasks

  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee request and questions.

  • Assists with the verification of I-9 documentation and maintains that they are current.

  • Assists in audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.

  • Assists with processing of terminations.

  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.

  • Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow up letters at the end of the recruiting process.

  • Assists with scheduling meetings and interviews as requested by the director of HR.

  • Files papers and documents into appropriate employee files.

  • Assists or prepares correspondence.

  • Prepares new employee files using electronic filing systems.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This is a hybrid/remote work environment allowing for split working time between working remotely and in the office.

Candidate must be able to work in a flexible environment balancing independent work and in-person collaborations.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, temporary position consisting of at least 40 hours per week in the 2025 academic summer and potential for continuation of 20 ours per week during the school year. Hours of work can be determined with the selected candidate and the manager.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Rising Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in human resources or business administration, or a Master's degree candidate in human resources or business administration.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
