Lab Technologist Intern (Summer 2025)

Provides technical support and assists Technologists/Consultants with lab inspections, analysis, and testing of materials, industrial machinery, consumer products, vehicles, and other equipment. Assist in scene surveys, inspections, and generation of maps and layout drawings. Assists in the application of scientific principles, engineering methods, and techniques to a variety of projects.

The mandatory research project must be completed by the end of the Internship and is expected to require approximately 40 hours of effort (housing not included). The research topic shall be mutually agreed upon between the intern and supervisor.

Required Work Hours:

  • Internships with ESi are expected to be full-time, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (Business hours are from 8 am-5 pm).
  • If you are participating in our co-op program - we require that you are taking no more than 2 classes during your employment with ESi and are able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Verbal and Written Communication.
  • Strong Mechanical and Laboratory Aptitude.

Preferred Skills:

  • Testing/Lab experience
  • Machine Shop
  • Fabrication
  • Welding
  • MATLAB

Experience Required:

  • Six months of working experience required.

Experience Preferred:

  • Demonstrated familiarity with lab instrumentation and automotive systems. Machine shop, machine tools, woodworking tools. Data acquisition and analysis.

Education Required:

  • Pursuing a certification and/or degree in a science or engineering discipline or related experience and/or training

Preferred Education:

  • 3.00 GPA or higher, preferred.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel for trips of three days in length.
