Title:Senior Accountant

Location:San Diego - Hybrid

Salary:$90k-105k + Bonus + Equity

Description:The Senior AP Specialist plays a key role in the finance team, supporting multiple areas within the organization. The ideal candidate is proactive, eager to learn, and focused on optimizing processes to prepare for future growth and global expansion.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle accounts payable processes and train team members and other departments.

  • Review AP team's work, providing coaching and mentorship.

  • Research and resolve complex AP transactions.

  • Identify and propose solutions for process improvements to support scalable growth.

  • Assist with vendor maintenance and 1099 filings.

  • Manage monthly accruals and month-end reporting, assisting with audit requests.

  • Maintain a customer service mindset when collaborating with other teams.

  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, seeking to understand the "why" behind processes.

  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision; seek guidance on complex issues.

  • Actively seek out growth opportunities and build cross-functional relationships.

  • Prioritize tasks with a sense of urgency and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or related field with 5+ years of full-cycle AP experience (or MA/MBA/MS with 3+ years).

  • Strong documentation and writing skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of SOX and audit requirements.

  • Proficient in Excel/MS Office with strong organizational skills.

  • Self-starter with a drive for excellence and process optimization

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
