THE POSITION

Are you searching for professional fiscal and administrative work directing the financial operations where you can have a positive impact on the safety and well-being of children and their families? Northumberland County is looking for a motivated and dependable individual to work as a County Fiscal Officer 1 in the fast paced fiscal office of our children and youth agency.

Our staff perform a variety of social service and casework duties designed to provide supportive services to children, youth, and families. We work in close cooperation with other social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, Courts, schools, and other community resources in assisting the families. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for the fiscal operations of the agency. This includes developing and managing budgets, revenues, and expenditures as well as supervising and evaluating fiscal and clerical staff to help ensure that all fiscal and clerical duties are performed accurately and timely. You will also prepare reports and maintain financial ledgers, journals, and other financial procedures needed for the agency. Additionally, work involves preparing fiscal forecasts, assisting in the agency's quality assurance process, and participating and complying with county, state, and federal audits.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Fiscal Technician and six college credits in accounting; or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience and six college credits in accounting; or
  • Three years of accounting and/or budgetary experience and a business related associate's degree that includes six college credits in accounting; or
  • One year of accounting and/or budgetary experience and a business-related bachelor's degree that includes six college credits in accounting; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes or is supplemented by six college credits in accounting.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
