Assumed Claims Associate

Location

Hybrid (Manchester, NH); in the office Tuesdays & Thursdays)

Summary

Reporting to the Manager, this role provides essential support to the Assumed Reinsurance department by undertaking a diverse array of assignments, many of which require a high level of technical expertise. Responsibilities include managing low-value assumed claims, which involves identifying coverage and liability issues, evaluating claims, establishing adequate reserves, and processing transactions. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department and contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the reinsurance process.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts day-to-day processing activities, including data entry, notes, and associated tasks to assist Assumed Analysts.
  • Assists in the clean up, management, and analysis of data.
  • Directly handles and/or assists in monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating the activities involving assumed reinsurance claims, including analysis of both reinsurance contract and underlying direct coverage issues, establishment of adequate reserves, the resolution and closure of claims.
  • Analyzes the reinsurance presentation relative to the contract (s) and specific of the underlying claim relative to liability, damages, allocation and number of occurrences.
  • Performs special projects and assignments related to area of authority as necessary.
  • Assists in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the Reinsurance Management team, Insurance Operations Management Team, affiliate companies, and parent company.
  • Consistently delivers superior customer service to both internal and external business partners.

Experience

  • A minimum of 1 year business related experience required.
  • Prior work experience in an insurance claims department or law firm strongly preferred.

Required Education

Four-year college degree required or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Education or Certification

Supervisory Role

Schedule, assign, and review the work of others in compliance with specific instructions.

Travel

As required, based upon business needs.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position functions within a professional and collaborative environment, requiring the ability to produce thorough and accurate work promptly despite numerous competing demands, deadlines, and distractions. The role utilizes standard office equipment, including phones, computers, copiers/printers, and filing cabinets, with a moderate noise level.
